2016 PRO DRIVE GOLF CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

We are pleased to announce that the PRO DRIVE GOLF –  CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS have commenced at Stewart Alexander Golf Club.

The Men’s Strokeplay event has been decided in four divisions –  With heavy rains and blustery winds reminiscent of a British Open Major over 4 weekends we have finally got the best of the best in a 3 out of 4 round aggregate strokeplay event.

Before we get into the winners announcements we must first recognise the course and how it stood up to the saturation of rain and harsh winds,  this can only be achieved by the great work that Robo/Graham plus Barry Knight (Course Manager) & his volunteers did to prepare for a typical rural winter. Well done team.

Our ProDrive Golf Championship Strokeplay winners 2016

Snr Men’s  Aaron Vanderpoel                                   222
Int  Men’s  Neal Johnson                                           252
Jnr Men’s   Craig Jackson                                          272
Jnr Men’s (B) B.J  Clarke                                           297
Snr Men’s  Strokeplay Aaron Vanderpoel

Rd 1, 71 Rd 2, 75 Rd 3, 76   total 222

Our Division 2 interclub pennant captain took the ascendency early  with a 1st round 1 over par 71 in the Snr  Men’s division with Mel Brown following behind carding a 74 and Ian Berry along with Ryan Thompson turning in 75’s.  Although the conditions were not the best for ‘hot’ scoring Vanderpoel displayed moments of brilliance with 11 birdies in his first two rounds,  also marred by a 9 on the 3rd hole Par 5  in round two he still managed to turn in a very respectable 75 & 76 in the last round to win by 10 shots from I Berry.

Int Men’s Strokeplay (Mars) Neal Johnson

Rd 1, 79 Rd 2, 86 Rd 3, 87  total 252

Mars’s first round basically set him up for the Intermediate strokeplay 2016.  Atrocious weather conditions in the 2nd and 3rd rounds didn’t allow for anybody to post any real threatening scores. Still the rounds had to be played and at the end of it Mars was the last man standing.

Jnr Men’s Strokeplay  Craig Jackson

Rd 1,  88 Rd 2, 89 Rd 3,  95   total 297

Craig has done a stellar job in fending off players like;  Bruce Watkinson, Dave Heta, and Bryce Pepperell in this year’s strokeplay.  A new Prebble cup representative for Stewart Alexander this year will definitely help put Craig in the Box seat for a double winner of both Strokeplay and Matchplay in 2016.

Jnr Men’s Strokeplay Brian Clarke

Rd 1, 96  Rd 2,  100 Rd 3,  101 total 297

B.J has set a target on his back for the matchplay in the Jnr B division.  Our Club Patron staved off an attack from George King to win the Jnr B honors by a whopping 16 shots!

Well done to the winners and also to all that braved the blustery conditions capable of suspension of play in most circumstances.  It was well noted that only an idiot would play in such weather.  Well I guess there was me an 50+ other idiots out there keeping each other warm.

Matchplay Starts in August – so for all your golf needs please visit; ProDrive Golf providing the best brands and golf advice at 4 awesome locations.
