Ladies Weekend Pennant team led by Sue Pollock have had a cracker start at their representative campaign. 3 debutantes making their first outing for Stewart Alexander did exceedingly well. Leigh Gryls, Cheryl Forster, Sue Pollock, Adele Ashford are coming 2nd so far behind Walton and are a head of Riverside by 6 points. A great score by Adele Ashford (71) who shot the teams lowest nett that day well done. In the words of Michael Herbert ” Shayne used to be the best player in the club, now he’s not even the best player in his house” 🙂 Well done ladies keep it up.
Prebble Cup team led by Jason Krayvaanger had their Tolich Trophy quarter finals match vs Cambridge at Te Aroha on Sunday after having a bye in the first around.
The lads had a positive start with winning 3 out of 4 foursome matches in the morning. With the biggest win going to Nick and Matthew winning 6/5. Hayden and Grant winning 4/3 And Jason and Carl winning 1up. Keith and Bobby couldn’t quite clench the win in their match losing 1 down.
The afternoon single matches started off very even and after Matthew Jackson losing his match 7/6 it was all but in the bag.Fortunately, the rest of the team grinned it out winning 6 of the 8 single matches.
The Juniors had no loses in their single matches with Bobby Rollinson winning 4/3, Keith Mitchell squaring his match, Hayden Parkes winning 2/1 and Grant Easton winning 3/2. The seniors winning 2 of 4 matches with a great come back from Nick Heffer winning 4/2 after being down a few shots early in his match. Jason Kraayvanger never let his opponent in the lead winning 3/2. Carl Miezenbeek had the hardest match of the day after his opponent went eagle, bride, eagle in a straight run resulting in Carl going 4 down, but with 7 holes to go Carl managed to pull it back to 1 down with 3 holes to play but couldn’t grab the win losing 2/1.
Final score Stewart Alexander winning 8 ½ to 3 ½
Next match 24th April vs Riverside Golf Club @ Cambridge.
