Tainui Regional Golf Final 2016

Nau mai haere mai ki Tuiti anahanara,

It is our pleasure once again to host the Tainui finals and we welcome you all to our golf club.  From Onewhero to Coromandle out west to Kawhia through to Waitomo and every club in between nau mai haere mai – If you qualified at Raglan in January 2015 or Thames last December you are a finalist and we cordially invite you.

To all the people that organise and are in charge of hosting the qualifiers at your respective club Nga mihi,  nga mihi ki t0 mahi koe – it is a thankless job however we thank-you and your team for the time and effort put in.

We would like to acknowledge Sean Dwyer,  Owner/Publican of  – The Star Tavern – for his leap of faith into supporting the Tainui Golf Tournament.

Sean hails from Melbourne (Australia) having a background in the transport industry concentrating on administrative and legal duties.  He also has had involvement in golf at a very young age doing odd jobs around the course and club rooms of his fathers Golf Club.  Sadly nothing transpired for him there as he put it ” golfers are a strange bunch”.  He found his trade in hospitality where his talents lay.  Sean loves to meet people and find out about new cultures,  and as an Ozzie boy he found out that the ‘Star Tavern’ was the last watering hole before you entered the King Country.  Sean has been in charge of the establishment thats over 100 years old  for 18 months now – this is where he found out about Maori culture and about the prohibition of alcohol south of the Puniu River.  Sean would like to invite any one to pop in and say Kia-ora at the Star Tavern and would like to wish everyone well for the tournament.

Tema Tapu and the team at Stewart Alexander also wish everyone the best of luck for the tournament.
